The Program aims to cultivate application-oriented engineering professionals with sound scientific, engineering, and cultural literacy in the field of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. Graduates of the Program are expected to acquire a systematic understanding of the fundamental theories and engineering knowledge in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. Graduates should be capable of effectively tackling complex engineering problems related to the design, manufacturing, and inspection of ships and ocean engineering structures. In particular, they should demonstrate strong engineering analysis and practical capabilities in the field of intelligent shipping. Furthermore, graduates should be prepared to undertake both technical and managerial responsibilities in the Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering sector and related industries. They should be able to adapt to future technological advances and evolving industrial demands, while possessing strong self-directed learning abilities and teamwork skills, laying a solid foundation for lifelong learning and sustained professional development.
The Program focuses on design of ship structures and intelligent ship manufacturing, with particular emphasis on fostering innovation awareness and innovative thinking. Building upon a systematic study of the fundamental theories and engineering knowledge in the field of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, students are further encouraged to expand their academic learning and engineering practice into intelligent and unmanned marine vessels. Through four years of systematic education and training, students are expected to achieve the following learning objectives (see Appendix 07-1).
(1) Integrate and apply knowledge of natural sciences, engineering technologies, and the fundamental theories and professional knowledge of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering to develop systematic solutions to complex engineering problems in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and related engineering fields.
(2) Keep abreast of cutting-edge technologies in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and related fields, demonstrate innovative competency, and apply modern engineering tools to the design, development, and manufacturing of marine equipment.
(3) Possess strong teamwork skills and an international mindset, and communicate and collaborate effectively in addressing complex engineering problems in the field of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering.
(4) Uphold sound moral integrity and comprehensive scientific and cultural literacy; take legal, cultural and sustainable development factors into consideration in engineering practice while assuming and fulfilling professional and social responsibilities.
(5) Maintain the ability for lifelong learning and continuous self-development to adapt to the evolving needs of the industry as well as ongoing socioeconomic development.
